Cannot install FullStory

New

Hi. I’m beyond frustrated. I installed Google Tag manager with no problem and see the FullStory data capture script.  However, FullStory is still telling me to install it on my website.  When I try to follow along, I get an error saying, Failed to Publish (maybe because it’s already there?). So, I tried to add the code to the Head section of my site, but that also does nothing.  So, I’m stuck on this page (see screenshot).

  • Just to clarify (since I also can’t edit my post), I am stuck on this page:

  • Hi @sagefinch1,

Thank you for reaching out in the community! I’m terribly sorry to hear that you’ve run into trouble with your installation.

The 'Failed to publish' error usually occurs when there's already a tag associated with FullStory in your GTM instance. It sounds like this is indeed the case here. That said, adding your snippet in the <head> should allow for you to capture sessions.

We’d like to take a closer look at your deployment to iron out the roadblock you have here. When time allows, would you mind reaching out to us here so we can help?

  • Yeah, I also added the snippet in the head tag but there doesn’t seem to be a way to verify or tell FullStory that I added it.  I’m still in the same stuck place. I also opened a support request but I have no idea how long it takes for them to get back to me.

  • Hi@sagefinch1 - Reviewing your session in Fullstory, I see that you successfully published your GTM tag initially, but when you attempted to install it again through the GTM workflow, you received the failed to publish error since it was already published. I see that there is a namespace conflict warning on your website, which indicates that the FullStory script is being loaded more than one time. You’ll want to removing the code inserted into your website’s <head> so you aren’t deploying the script twice.

That said, you should be able to bypass the Install Fullstory on your website(s) step after there has been activity detected on your website along with our script. Our system is designed to check every 10 minutes for active accounts. This could take up to 15-30 minutes if you have a single page application or more time depending on your website traffic.

I went ahead and checked your account, and I’m seeing that the issue has resolved itself. If you’re still experiencing any deployment issues, we can continue troubleshooting this through the ticket you opened with us. Here’s a guide for our Support Response Times and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

This should get you going in the right direction, but please feel free to reach out to us at support@fullstory.com in case there is anything we can help troubleshoot further in the future.
