Avg Time for specific event or element
New
Is there a way to create a segment and view data for the average time a user spends completing a specific flow or event online? For example, we are trying to drill down to the amount of time a student spends trying to submit for leave of absence online. The reason being is the session avg time includes other events unrelated to leave of absence and we need to define the right OKR to prove the redesigned UI for this event decreases the amount of time the student takes to submit.

Hi @spencerl 😊
I can see why this metric would be super useful to help prove out the redesign and if it was successful in decreasing the amount of time a student takes to submit a leave of absence! Although this wont give you the average time it will give you the median time to convert:
I hope this helps - let me know if you have any other questions!

Ohh awesome!!! I have not created elements before, but I assume there are tutorials for that. So grateful for an answer!
Hey @spencerl! If you’re new to creating elements, I would first check out the link @sorchamcnamee provided, Naming Elements in FullStory, as a guide.
We also have an event called Ready, Set, FullStory: a Q&A for Beginners happening today in just a few hours (3pm EDT). It’s an opportunity to ask our Customer Success team any beginner questions you have, and if you can make it, having them walk you through how to create an element would be a great way to learn! If you can’t make this one, keep an eye on our events page for upcoming sessions as they are recurring. 😊
You can also always reach out here with any further questions!
Hi @spencerl good question, if its possible - i would recommend trying to capture this using funnels since it has built tracking and reporting on duration.
Following up on this, is there any way in Fullstory to track average times to complete a funnel? I don’t know that the median time to convert actually provides the right metric to measure a decrease in time
Hey @spencerl ! Thanks for your follow-up question.
At this time, we do not provide average time to convert within funnels. The reason we use median over average is because median is less likely to be skewed by outliers in the data.
If you have any other questions, please let us know!
