Heatmaps - Avoiding header & footer

New

Hello, I was wondering if there is a way to prevent the header and footer of a page(s) to be measured by a heatmap so I can only measure the content of the page.

We know our header and navigation links get the most clicks by far so often times many of the 25 elements the Heatmap can detect are in the header and footer, so I wonder if it is possible to ignore those elements and just measure the page content?

  • Hey Israel, I think the closest way to answer this would be to create a segment that excludes anyone who clicked the header/footer. You could then run a heatmap on that particular segment and you should only see clicks on the actual content of the page. The downside of that of course is that clicks from users who clicked the content of the page AND the header/footer won’t be included. I don’t believe there’s any other way to exclude a given element from a heatmap. I agree that would be a nice feature though!

  • Thanks @Logan Rowley I should have think of that! lol I created a segment excluding clicks on the header and use it on the heatmap and that seems to work!
