Detect when browser display a pop up blocked notification

Answered

Our app has a click>redirect into new window/tab interaction + the url is not in our FS domain - if/when the browser notifies user the a “pop-up” has been “blocked” …. Can FS detect that as ome sort fo browser event that occurred?
If not….What s the expert guidance on how to detect this “pop up detected” type of browser interaction in FS?   are the approaches wihtin our app we should consider to detect that behavior?  Consider messaging that indicates to user they will need to enable pop ups for the “off domain” redirect url?

    Hi MAc McAnally

    Thanks for joining our Community!

You mention the user is opening a new tab which is not in Fullstory's capture, so I wouldn't expect Fullstory to be able to grab details around this as the click / redirect has taken the expected action and it sounds like the pop up being blocked is happening outside of the session information we have access to.

Have you captured your own test session and watched the playback link to see if there are any signals seen in Fullstory, such as an error click perhaps? (Instructions for getting the URL are slightly different if you are using v1 or v2 of our data capture snippet, we have a guide here which explains how you can check for your site)

Have you spoken to your developers to see if there's anything they can detect to set up a custom event / server-side event with our APIs to pass this event into Fullstory?

If you'd like the team to take a closer look, would you be able to raise a support ticket with details of steps we can take to replicate this behaviour?

Hopefully this gives you some ideas of checks you can make but feel free to reach out to support if you need us to review :-)

    All the best,
    Gemma
