Analyze custom events around a date on a website

I want to analyze an eventwebsite. How can I use the date of the event in a retention?
For example: I want to know, how many days before an event the users have booked their hotel on the website. The website contains the description of the event, the start date and various CTAs. Our developers have added the date in the page properties and it can be set a filter.
My solution approach: Create a retention. As start date I need the date of the event (which is no custom event and therefore not selectable). Is there any possibility to read this date and set it as a custom event or a complete different approach to solve this?
