Time of day web traffic insight

Answered

Hi guys,

I'm trying to build a visualisation to show average traffic volume throughout the day (00:00 - 23:59) but I'm not sure if or how I'm able to do this in FS.

I've tried metrics > visited URL > time period (hourly over past 7 days) but that gives a very literal hourly breakdown for each hour across the week, not in a fixed 00:00 - 23:59 format along the X-axis with just 24 points. Ideally I want to apply the relevant time period (i.e. 12m, 90 days, 30 days) and still only see the same 24 points on the graph.

Has anyone else been able to do this or do you have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Jamie

    Hi Jamie Rust !

    Thanks for reaching out.

A standard metric trend graph (with an hourly cadence applied) is going to plot every single hourly period within your chosen time-range. So if you've chosen a single date, then you would see just 24 hour points plotted. But for a longer time-period, like 7 days, there would indeed be 24 points per day visualised, since this is quite a literal analysis of every hour in that time-frame.

However, we do offer other ways to visualise metric trends - such as rolling averages and rolling windows, which would allow you to run more long-term analyses, since these are analysing trends over a longer period of time :

Do you think one of these alternatives might bring you to closer to what you're looking for?
