Webhook via JavaScript API
New
Hi,
I’m trying to see how to set a webhook that sends notifications when users are entering a specific URL in our website.
I saw that “Please note that webhooks are only supported with events that are set via the FullStory JavaScript API. Events that are defined within the FullStory application UI, are not currently supported with webhooks.” in https://help.fullstory.com/hc/en-us/articles/360045134554-Webhooks.
I’m not too sure If I understand how does that work, the JavaScript API section appears under Mobile in the documentation, does that mean I can’t get it working for web?
I’ll be happy to get any documentation that’s relevant :)

Hi @tbh_dev,

Welcome to the Community! 👋
You will only be able to use Webhooks with events which show as “API defined” under Settings > Data Management > Events.
Use the “Filter by” option to see which events will be available, as shown here:
Taking a look at your account, it looks like your account only has events defined in-app, which is why these events won’t appear as an option to use for a webhook.
On the Webhooks help article, the events link mentioned above takes you to our article on Sending custom event data into FullStory, which includes a link to the Web API developer docs.
Hopefully this should point you in the right direction to get some API events set up for your account but if you have any follow up questions let us know :-)
All the best,
Gemma
Hi Gemma,
Thanks for the answer. However, I do not wish to send custom event data into FullStory.
My sole purpose at this point is to find a way to define an event with certain thresholds that when passed - it will send a certain massage to Slack.
I must admit that I got lost with the documentation, What’s required in order to support my needs?
Best,
Tal
Hello @tbh_dev,
Thanks for providing a little more context on what you’re trying to achieve. This would be possible using our Alerts feature which is used for metrics / segments and can send alerts to Slack based on a threshold. However, please note this feature requires your company to be on an Advanced or Enterprise plan type.
If your company wish to explore this further, it may be worth asking an Admin user to get in touch with your Account Manager or reach out to the support team so we can discuss the plans available.
If this prompts any additional questions you feel we can help with in the Community, please let us know :-)
