Select where text is null

New

Good Day All!
I am trying to see users who click on an empty popup modal because I need to isolate the cause of the missing text.

Is there a way to select for null text?

Essentially the Error Modal has two parts; 1 is the OK button that is always populated and 2 is the error reason that we are seeing no text on sometimes. The modal is global so just finding the element doesn’t work

  • Hello @Johan Kropff 👋

Based on the information provided, it sounds like a user would likely click “OK” or an X to exit a blank modal rather than click on the empty space where a message would ordinarily be displayed.

If this is the case, we would suggest our Watched Elements feature - which is for tracking elements which are rendered on the page but a user may not interact with (such as error messages). However, I want to mention this feature is available to customers on our Advanced or Enterprise plan types.

Otherwise, we would rely on interactions combined with using Page Insights > Inspect Mode to see if the CSS has any specific attributes we can use to get narrower results. For example, we can create a metric based on a clicked CSS selector and then group the results by text in a dimensionality card.

Do you have an example session where a user clicked blank space where text should have been (and not the OK button)? If so, it may be worth reaching out to support via support@fullstory.com with a link so the team can take a look to advise further but Watched Elements would usually be the best recommendation here.

If this brings up any additional questions you think we can help with, please let us know :-)

  • Thanks Gemma! The watched Element feature has resolved my query.
