difference between time on page vs time since page load vs time since session start

Answered

a lot of our session replays showed page loading but users not doing anything and then the session would end. this made me curious and I wanted to see how many people are bouncing off immediately.

What refinement should I use on my visited URL event?
time on page is less than 1 sec vs time since page load is less than 1 sec. whats the diff?

    Hello Kartik Kataria

Thank you for posting on our community pages! I can see you also created a support ticket and we have provided a few suggestions but I'll add a note here in case it's helpful to other community members.

    • We have a help article which talks about Measuring Bounce Rate with Fullstory
    • You can make sure common bots are blocked by updating your Data Capture settings

    • You can also create a metric to look for device type = robot to see if any bots are visiting your site which are not included in our common list, e.g. automated testing to make sure these are not captured.

    • Use the Group By option for a metric to look at different dimensions e.g. IP address, device type, country, URL referrer.
    • Check with your marketing team - For example it's not uncommon to see an increase in bounce rates if you're running a new UTM campaign which may need some tweaks to target the best audience.

We talk in more detail about the different search filters here.

    • Time on Page
Refines your search by the total time a user spent on a page where the event occurred.
    • Time since page load
Refines your search by the time elapsed since page load (Web Only)
    • Time since session start
Refines your search by the time elapsed since the session began.

Hopefully this answers your questions but if you need us to take a look you can always create a support ticket and we'll be here to help!

    Gemma
