- Available with Enterprise, Advanced, Business, and Free plans.
- Available for admins, architects, explorers, and standard users.
A segment is a grouping of users that can be analyzed across Fullstory. Segments can be saved and shared with others. Segments can be used to analyze and subdivide other Fullstory objects, such as metrics, dashboards, and tables.
Quick start
To quickly create a demo segment, do the following:

Click + Create in the left sidebar and choose Segment.
The default segment is always "Everyone" without any filters applied. - Name your segment "Demo Segment" and click Save.
- Under User Filters, click Any user.
- Choose Total sessions and then select is at least and enter "3".
- Under Event Filters, click Any activity.
- Select Rage Clicked.
Segment page overview
When viewing an individual segment, the page is divided into the follow areas:
- Segment metadata: Set the name and description of your segment at the top.
- Segment Filters: Segments can be configured using the same user filters and event filters that are available in OmniSearch. See What user and event filters are available with OmniSearch? for a comprehensive guide and list of user and event filters that are available.
- Session Playlist: The first card in a segment is always the session playlist. See Getting Started with Session Replay to learn more.
- Segment cards: Each segments includes a set of predefined "Cards" designed to give you quick insights about the segment. See Introduction to Cards to learn more.
Ask StoryAI in Segments
Available with StoryAI Premium. Ask StoryAI analyzes segment data to provide proactive insights and answer questions about user behavior patterns. Learn more.
When viewing a segment, look for the StoryAI section below the segment filters and click Analyze segment. Ask StoryAI will analyze your segment data and provide:
- Overview provides a high-level understanding of your segment and key behavioral patterns.
- Insights identifies specific, actionable opportunities to improve the segment's experience.
- Opportunities highlights any issues or funnel drops that need attention.
- Follow-up questions lets you ask specific questions about trends, frustration signals, and device breakdowns.
